The man can sing, dance and just generally be awesome, and it’s no wonder that NBC has snapped him up for a part in their upcoming, performed-live Peter Pan musical. Christopher Walken is set to play Captain Hook for NBC, and there’s a rumor out there that they want to recruit none of than Veronica Mars herself to play Peter, continuing a tradition of the male character being played by a woman. The Frozen actress has not worked out a deal yet due to her commitment to Showtime’s House of Lies, however, but Walken is said to be fully on board.

“He’s one of the most unique actors in our business,” Greenblatt said. “He might really just be a song and dance man at heart. … This might be the first tap dancing Captain Hook you’ve ever seen.”

God, let’s hope so.

With Peter Pan, NBC is hoping to reproduce the success of their live Sound of Music performance, which was a big hit for the network. For his part, Walken is excited about the role:

“I started my career in musicals and it’s wonderful after all this time, at this point in my career, to be in this classic musical I watched as a child and to work with Neil Meron and Craig Zadan again after Hairspray. It’s a chance to put on my tap shoes again.”

Sounds like the beginning of something great to me. What do you think? Will Peter Pan bring in the viewers the way The Sound of Music did?
