Well, enough with the speculation. Entertainment Weekly is reporting that official word has come down that Chuck has been picked up for not only an additional nine episodes, but eleven episodes to air this spring. For we Chuck fans, this is incredible news, especially coming off such a strong episode as "Chuck vs. the Couch Lock." While the first couple episodes of the season have seemed to be running in place a bit regarding Chuck's search for his mother, last night's outing seems to have put the plot into drive, with Mama Bartowski dropping a line to her son in the closing moments. Hopefully, Josh Schwartz has had a back order plan in place to extend the season because we are all going to want to see some more great Chuck episodes.
In other news, NBC has also given a full-season order to the similarly-rated Chase, and asked for four more episodes of Undercovers. To be honest, these come as a bit of a surprise to me because typically new shows that pull the ratings numbers these shows get are cancelled in favor of in the can midseason shows. Does this mean NBC doesn't have much confidence in its winter slate? Only time will tell. There is no need to dwell on the pessimistic though, this is great news for fans of these shows, and, obviously, their casts and crews.

I'm stunned. With Chase's low ratings and the weakness of some of its episodes, I was sure that it was a goner.
But yay for Chuck!
