It was a celebration on Dancing With the Stars 200th episode last night, with returning champs Kristi Yamaguchi and Apolo Ohno returning to lead teams composed of this season's competitors in an epic dance-off. As far as the actual Dancing With the Stars present tense competition, it was a mostly lackluster night with few exceptions - but some really prime examples of the worst doing their, well, worst. Who will be eliminated tonight on Dancing With the Stars? Our prediction ahead along with video clips of Ohno and Yamaguchi's performances.
Being the 200th episode of Dancing with the Stars, numerous former contestants were in attendance including John O’Hurley, Jane Seymour,Ty Murray, Chuck Liddell, Louie Vito,Donny Osmondy, Kathy Ireland, and more, but the big attraction here was the competition between team Yamaguchi - which included Mark Ballas and Bristol Palin, Rick Fox and Cheryl Burke, and Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer - and team Ohno, which featured Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough, Brandy and Maksim Chmerkovskiy, and Kurt Warner and Anna Trebunskaya. Okay, if the result seems a bit predictable at this point - it's because it is. Ohno wins. No surprise there, he has the top two teams from this season of Dancing With the Stars here. Talk about unfair. Of course the real winner is the audience, check out the routines below - they are pretty spectacular.
So what about scores? Let's break it down by team:
Last: Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas
Dance: Viennese waltz
Song: "Trouble" by Ray LaMontagne
Score: 33
Sum: Bristol's timing is perhaps the worst in Dancing With the Stars history. It was painful to watch, yet the judges seem to have a duty to be nice to here. Maybe they fear Momma Grizzly too?
Chance of Elimination: On election week? You wish, liberal whack-jobs. Tea party faithfuls will pick up the phone to keep Palin in right after they drop ballots to guarantee tax cuts for the rich.
Fifth: Kurt Warner and Anna Trebunskaya
Dance: Tango
Song: "Simply Irresistible" by Robert Palmer
Score: 34
Sum: Kurt was like a mannequin. Seriously, way too rough around the edges. This dance was flat out angular. No grace. No hope.
Chance of Elimination: You're outta here Kurt, sorry.
Fourth: Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer
Dance: Paso doble
Song: "Free Your Mind" by En Vogue
Score: 35
Sum: Kyle continues to be charismatic, but his biggest challenge is that these 'serious' dances are out of his range. Regardless of how well he nails it, I have trouble 'accepting' him in this role as much as I would Kurt - if Kurt was good. Kyle is a terrific performer, but cast against type here. On the other hand, he is a slayer in the fun danced. I'm rooting for him.
Chance of Elimination: Kyle has beat the odds up to this point. This week, he'll beat them again. The road to the final three is a tough one though.
Third: Rick Fox and Cheryl Burke
Dance: Quickstep
Song: "Hey Pachuco" by Royal Crown Revue
Score: 37
Sum: It's good, but it's still awkward. Maybe it's just me? The size difference is just a grace killer, but the choreography seems to be making the best of it with a lot of horizontal movement.
Chance of Elimination: Rick will soon be eliminated. I stick with my reasoning here: he comes from a manly sport. Only figure skaters and Nascar - which has a huge female audience - really have a chance in Dancing with the stars.
First (tie) Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough
Dance: Tango
Song: "Shut Up" by Black Eyed Peas
Score: 37
First (tie) Brandy and Maksim Chmerkovskiy
Dance: Foxtrot
Song: "Fever" by Peggy Lee
Score: 37
Sum: Well, both were fantastic - obviously. This season's endgame is obvious: Brandy Vs. Jennifer, unless someone break's a leg or something. I think Jennifer has the general fame to win this thing, but Brandy is also a veteran entertainer so ...
Chance of Elimination: Zip.
