TV Legend David Carradine has been found dead. The actor's large span of roles included his iconic portrayal of Kwai Chang Caine on the show "Kung Fu." Carradine would go on to play his own grandson in the follow up series "Kung Fu: The Legend Continues." In his later years, Carradine became something of a pop-culture staple appearing on Lizzie McGuire, Danny Phantom, and a Jonas Brothers video, while continuing to appear in pivotal one-off "event" roles in films like Kill Bill – he was Bill – and Crank: High Voltage.
Carradine was in Thailand preparing to shoot a new film and apparently hung himself with the cord that controlled the curtains in his hotel room. So far, no one has come forward with any indication that the 72-year old actor had been suffering from any form of depression or mental illness. An ex-wife, Marina Anderson, was quoted as saying "I feel something is wrong – David was always very happy when he was filming. So, I don’t understand why he would commit suicide at this time."
The report of suicide is not an official ruling at this time and seems to have originated first from the hotel staff that found Carradine's body, and the police who took their statements. The medical examiner in Thailand is expected to release the final autopsy results in two days.

INDEPENDENT FILM "PORTLAND" MOURNS LOSS OF DAVID CARRADINE
Actor David Carradine was set to co-star in the feature film entitled PORTLAND shooting in Los Angeles, CA and Portland, OR this summer.
Los Angeles, CA, June 4, 2009 – The cast, crew, and producing team behind the feature film Portland are shocked and saddened to learn of the tragic passing of co-star David Carradine on the eve of principal photography.
Portland was set to be David's next film and was his only project currently in pre-production. Helmed by Matthew Mishory, the picture stars Erin Daniels, Jonathan Caouette, Steven Martini, Renee Victor, and Alex Schemmer. Carradine was set to play a pivotal role in the film and this has been a great loss for the entire PORTLAND family. "An actor of David Carradine's stature behind our film meant the world to us," said executive producers Adrian Salpeter and Elizabeth Levine of Random Bench Productions. "Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time".
The team is committed to this film and are considering other actors to replace the irreplaceable David Carradine. The producers and all involved are moving forward with the production in his memory.
Mr. Carradine was truly a living legend of stage and screen, having worked with Martin Scorsese, Hal Ashby, Ingmar Bergman, and Quentin Tarantino, among many others, in a career that spanned nearly five decades.
Writer/director Matthew Mishory adds, "every filmmaker aspires to work with an iconic actor like David Carradine, he was one of a kind".
I was so sad on hearing this news. I have always loved "the Carradines" starting with "Dad". I personally don't think he killed himself. I don't think he would want that to be his legacy. I would prefer to think he went "pleasuring" himself, but there is the rumor that supposedly his hands were tied behind his back……R.I.P. David. Will catch you on the flip side.
