Diff'rent Strokes' Conrad Bain Dies at 89

It's been a tough ride for many of the castmembers of Diff'rent strokes over the years. Nearly all of its child stars, Gary Coleman, Todd Bridges and Dana Plato suffered various substance abuse and emotional problems, with Plato actually ending up dying young.

But their father figure didn't have quite as rough of a go. Conrad Bain, Phillip Drummond, on the show, lived a long life until he recently passed away at 89. He was living at a California retirement home, and died peacefully this week.

His daughter spoke about her father:

"He was an amazing person. He was a lot like Mr. Drummond, but much more interesting in real life. He was an amazing father."

It's always sad to see a former TV star go, but at least it was peaceful. Rest in peace, Mr. Drummond, and our thoughts are with your family.
