Emerson: ‘I’m thrilled to work with O’Quinn again’

If you missed it, earlier this week there was some news that warmed the heart of every LOST fan still missing their dearly departed show: Michael Emerson and Terry O’Quinn, two of the greatest actors to star in the series, would be getting their own (non-spinoff) television series on NBC in the fall. Fans around the world reacted in shock and glee to the revelation that the duo, whose dynamic was one of the most famous on LOST, would be starring in the comedic drama “as former black ops agents.” The show, tentatively titled Odd Jobs, is already gathering buzz as one of the most anticipated pilots of 2011.

“I really am amazed that what started out as some kidding around on the set of Lost has turned into a network TV reality,” Emerson told Entertainment Weekly. “I’m still reeling from this sudden turn of events.”

“I’m an actor who has never even succeeded in testing for a pilot and here I find myself involved in a project custom-built for Terry and me! [I] can’t tell you how thrilling it is to be part of the Bad Robot [Abrams’ production company] family and enter into this exciting collaboration with Warner Bros. and NBC. Have we arrived or what?”

O’Quinn hasn’t commented on the pilot yet, but Emerson had nothing but good things to say about the former John Locke as well: “Best of all will be that day when Terry and I show up on the set of a brand new show, look around, shrug our shoulders and say, ‘Let’s get started!’ My fingers are crossed!”

I couldn’t be more excited for this new show, if simply for the chance to see Emerson and O’Quinn at it again on the small screen — and together! I feel like a little bit of the LOST family has managed to survive the breakup. Now we get to wait to see what guest stars pop up: I’m guessing they’ll have Jorge Garcia in a guest appearance before season one is finished.

Odd Jobs, while still in the pilot stage, will undoubtedly find its way to audiences everywhere sometime next year.
