When Being Erica was renewed for a fourth and final season earlier this month, I was extremely excited. After hearing people extol the virtues of this tale of time travel therapy for multiple years, I bit the bullet and watched the first two seasons of the show on Hulu around Christmastime. Instantly I was hooked to the world of 32 year old Erica Strange, the epitome of a dramedy everywoman, as she tries to reconcile her past and present. We’re about a third of the way through season three in America (the show finished airing its third season in Canada this past December), so it’s not too early to question one thing.
When and where will the final season air?
Being Erica’s United States network, SOAPnet, will be transitioned to Disney Junior in January 2012, roundabout when the final season of Erica would have premiered. In laiman’s terms? Being Erica is a show without a network (it'll likely be several months before we find out when/where it will air), so season 4 will be airing somewhere different. If I were in charge of the TV universe (a wonderful fantasy indeed), I would place Erica on ABC as a 2011-12 midseason replacement, contingent on not picking up the recently announced “American-ized” remake. Not only would Erica be cheap-ish programming with a built-in fanbase, but it’s already coming from an ABC network so it’s not a tremendous departure. Giving the show a wider showcase could also light the fire for the remake to come to fruition, which could potentially fuel another 4-5 year run.
I could also see the show making the jump to other female-friendly networks that are chomping at the bit to expand their scripted programming. Lifetime would make sense in terms of tone and target audience, as they already air a similar show (Drop Dead Diva) and I think they would be able to throw some serious muscle behind the show. Networks like Oxygen and WE wouldn’t make for bad destinations, as well, especially if they both want to make a serious stab at making legitimate scripted shows.

well they could just air it on soapnet is fall as it airs in Canada B.E. finishes its seasons there in December anyway n soapnet closes in January and season 4 is the final season
