Five Actors Who Have Made an Impressive Jump From Film to TV

The normal way people used to transition as actors was to go from TV to film. Now, with TV being the big market, it is the other way around. The thing is, sometimes you can’t know just how remarkable they are at their job until you start getting to see them every week as they progress in the same role. With that in mind, I decided to sit down and compile a list of five actors who have floored me with their move to TV.

Kiefer Sutherland

The man was always a good actor, but it was with his key role as Jack Bauer on 24 that many of us saw Kiefer in a new light. He had always been intense, but this was intensity on a whole new level. This IS the character we connect with Kiefer in real life now.

Alec Baldwin

If you, like me, grew up on Baldwin being a bad guy or a tough guy, his transition to 30 Rock may have seemed odd. But if you watched him on his SNL hosting gigs, you knew. This guy had that special comedic timing, and 30 Rock showed is that side of Baldwin more than any film he had done to date.

James Spader

Say what you want about his run on The Office, but Spader brings a certain menacing charm to TV. The Blacklist has also been an entertaining show, mainly because of Spader as the venomous bad guy (or is he?).

Skeet Ulrich

Laugh at me if you want, but Jericho was a cool show. Up to that point, Ulrich had been the hot, one-note lead. Jericho showed us he could get his hands dirty, and keep us compelled in doing so.

Kevin Bacon

I dig The Following, and that is because it has Bacon in it. After all, everything is better with Bacon.

So who did we miss? I almost listed Steven Buscemi for Boardwalk Empire, but he was just as amazing in all his films. But besides him, who has impressed you most with their transition from big screen to small?
