Five Shows That Outlived Their Concepts

Some shows start out with fundamentally good ideas, but sometimes the concepts have to be stretched in order to make way for new seasons.  It’s part of the underlying issue of having a show last two many seasons.  How much content can you really pour out before it gets repetitive and stale?  Today’s TV audiences don’t have the patience for that.

That being said, here are five examples of shows that started out okay, but had their concepts ruined by popularity, and the need to keep kicking the can down the road rather than wrap up things when it was appropriate. Which, often times, would have been after season one.

wow, really! The superman costume looked ridiculous??? Why were you even watching the show if you did not like superman to begin with. I am so tired of douchebag reviews. Please why can’t you all just keep it to yourself

    not stargate?
a total of 17 seasons, 2 spinooff series and how many tv movies?

the concept for the tv show “24” became too unwieldly as the days went on. the show became a caricature of itself the day they made the younger Palmer brother President.

Stargate was brilliant, at least the first 2 series. All the series listed here, started great and jumped the shark at the end of first season. (one that i think was omitted was heroes). Stargate started with a mediocre movie, a slow 1s season, but it kept growing better from here, at least until season 9. Stargate atlantis followed o somewhat similar growth. The disaster was Stargate universe since the change the formula that made stargate succesfull

“You simply can’t have a show that’s only about one murder.” Really? Um…Twin Peaks, anyone?

Congratulations, you’re at least 5 times smarter than the person who wrote this article.

Also considering Homeland just cleaned up at the emmys, I don’t understand what his gripes are with that one either.
