The Powerpuff Girls is an animated series that started in 1998 and ran for six seasons, all the way up until 2005. Even though the show hasn’t aired in more than 10 years, the whole concept of the Powerpuff Girls still remains extremely popular, even today. In fact, people have become so enamored about the subject that an entire universe has been created in order to make sure that each character has a life of its own. For some reason, the Fourth Powerpuff girl has always been among the most popular characters from the entire group. Her name is Blisstina Utonium and below are 10 things you should know about her.
1. She was created by either a genius or a mad scientist, depending on how you look at things
She is the work of Professor Utonium, as you might have already guessed from her name. Depending on who you ask, this professor is either the greatest thing to come along since sliced bread or completely nuts. Nevertheless, Blisstina was created and the rest is history.
2. Her very existence is the result of a competition
It might not have been a real competition in the truest sense, but it was the result of two professors who couldn’t stand to let one get the upper hand on the other. Professor Utonium’s rival, Professor Newtronium, had created a boy that could fly. This drove Utonium crazy and he decided that he had create someone himself that could outperform this boy. The end result was Blisstina.
3. She has superpowers, but they were an accident
Professor Utonium never really meant for her to have superpowers. He accidentally included a chemical in her makeup that gave her these powers. For many years, it wasn’t a problem, but as she got older, her powers grew in strength. Her problems also got bigger in direct proportion to her powers.
4. Her powers are linked to her emotions
You might think this is a good thing, and it probably could be if she could figure out how to tap into her emotions when she needs to make her powers stronger. The problem is, she hasn’t figured out how to make it all work for her, so her emotions often work against her. Every time she becomes emotional about something, her powers go out of control, causing her to unintentionally harm others.
5. She ran away from home
Her powers became such a problem that she ended up destroying the house in which she lived in fell swoop with a massive explosion. She was devastated when this happened, as she didn’t have any intention of doing this. She was so afraid of her own powers that she decided she had to run away, going somewhere devoid of people so she couldn’t hurt anyone.
6. She and a lonely elephant became friends
When she ran away from home, she ended up on an island where there were no people, only animals. One of those animals was an elephant and the two became inseparable.
7. She didn’t meet her sisters until she was a teenager
Blisstina didn’t make the decision to go back home until she was in her teens. By then, she had become so homesick she just couldn’t stand it anymore. As she set out on her journey to go back home, she knew that she would have to face her fears, but she still struggled with this a great deal. Eventually, she met her three siblings, whom she never even knew she had, as she had left before any of them came into being. For quite some time after the siblings were reunited, she still had no control of her emotions. Things continued to spiral out of control, only this time she continuously blamed her sister for everything that was happening.
8. She found out the hard way that friends aren’t always what they seem
Sadly, she discovered that her elephant friend wasn’t really her friend, but someone who wanted to fool her and isolate her from her family so he could steal her superpowers. He used her constant anxiety against her, and almost turned her against her family in the process.
9. She never thought she could fight until she had to
All her life, she had serious doubts about her ability to use her superpowers the way she wanted to use them. When she was confronted with the thought of her entire family and everyone else in town being annihilated by someone she thought was her friend, she knew she had to fight or lose the ones she loved. This is when she finally came into her own.
10. She found her true path when she was forced to act
It wasn’t until she was forced to take action that she was able to find the path for her life. As such, she went on to defend the entire galaxy, something she never thought she would be able to do.
