With Season 4 of Friday Night Lights finishing its run on DirecTV tonight (Season 4 will air on NBC beginning April 30), word comes that Season 5 will be the show's last.  An NBC representative has told Michael Ausiello at Entertainment Weekly that while no official decision has been made, all of the principals at FNL have been given permission to seek other work once the shoot for Season 5 concludes in June.   As Mr. Ausiello points out, the actors and creators of FNL have received this information at a fortunate time: right at the start of pilot season.  A critical darling, especially for its acting, there is no doubt the folks on FNL will have little problem finding work this fall.

What's your reaction to the end of Friday Night Lights?  Sad to see it go?  Think the timing is right?  On what current or future shows would you like Kyle Chandler, Connie Britton and the rest of the cast to appear?  Be sure to check out TVOvermind for updates to this story and all of your TV needs.

I , along with a few others, am Very sad to see it go. Most underated show in history. I also think it is terrible to end a show and have no idea of when , or IF it will ever come back on. I am hoping all the people stay on and continue to do the show.

  3. Of course I'm sad to see this show go. But I already cry every episode, so consider me emotional about this show in general. But, I'm glad to know in advance that next season will be the last. It gives me time to emotionally prepare.I would be more worried about story lines getting played out, repeating, and characters moving too far from their fundamentals. Better to end on a high note that the producers can control.

Noooo, I love this show!!!!! I DO NOT want it to end at season 5. There are so many routes and possibilities these characters can take, the potential for twists and turns will no be fully realized in just one more season. I have a huge group of friends that are in love with these characters that would absoultely agree. Think of the fans. I think there should be at least 2 more season. End it at season 6, but give us more of this show which we all crave. This is the kind of show that hooks people in with its first episode and never ever lets go. Its fasinating, exciting, thought provoking, genius, incredibly brilliant in its writing and in the acting. I can go on and on, but the point is that this show needs to continue expanding on its characters. I think the millions of fnl fans out there would be deeply disappointed if another season wasn't considered, and by another season I mean season 6 remember. We're all excited and very anxious about season 5; can't wait for that!!!!

Season 5 should NOT be the last. FNL is a unique treasure among today's TV shows. The show could continue longer and I wish it would; we watch it religiously.
