I don't typically post the casting call news, personally, simply because I don't always find it very interesting.  However, the casting call that came down today for the eighth episode of the second season of Fringe is a little different.  The casting call reads;

[STRANGER] Caucasian. 30’s-50’s, male, shaved head (or willing to shave). A bit generic looking man who pops up quite a bit- Guest Star

Don't they already have an Observer on Fringe?  I can't help but assume that our favorite observer from season one might be getting a new friend for season 2.  Could it be his alternate from the other universe?  Or perhaps the old observer is being replaced for spending too much money on Rogaine?  My bet is obviously on this being a second Observer, but in our own little universe who is either likely a friend of the original.  In fact, would it not be cool if this season brought about the appearance of many new observers?

Fringe begins its second season on Fox on Thursday, September 17 on a new night.  In the shocking season finale, Olivia’s anticipated introduction to Walter Bishop’s former lab partner and Massive Dynamic founder WILLIAM BELL (guest star Leonard Nimoy) revealed the existence of a parallel universe and the ability to travel between the two worlds. This new universe has a different, intriguing history and holds secrets of its own, which was evident when Walter stunningly visited his son’s gravestone.

Each episode of the sophomore season promises to uncover more about the larger threat and while some questions will be answered, new ones will surface. The intensity accelerates as Season Two opens with Olivia’s shocking return to this reality, and a determined Peter, unknowingly in a race against time with an ominous mobile force, pursues information about Olivia’s blurred and perplexing visit to the alternate reality. Meanwhile, Walter reenters the lab to cook up a bit of fringe science, and of course, some custard for someone’s birthday.
