The Fringe Movement Gives Tips on How to Promote Fringe Fridays

We’re less than a week away from what the optimists are calling “Fringe Fridays” and what the pessimists are calling “D-Day.” The outcome of Friday night’s first episode of Fringe could really spell out whether the show gets a fourth season, or is axed by FOX. The show was middling at best in the ratings in its Thursday night slot, but if it’s able to hang on to 80% of its audience, FOX president Kevin Reilly says he’ll be happy. Tall order, eh? Well, The Fringe Movement, an organization of fans who want the show to succeed, have released a list of guidelines to ensure that awareness of the Fringe move is at an all-time high in the days leading up to the episode “Firefly” on January 21.

“For US viewers, watching LIVE is the key – as well as persuading your friends (and anyone within earshot) to watch,” the guidelines stated. “If you can get Nielsen viewers, even better! But for International fans, the best tool at our disposal is Social Networking and the word-of-mouth promotion that it affords us.”

The list is rather long and contains a lot of good stuff, which are perhaps no-brainers; despite that, the list forms a healthy checklist for any fans wanting to make sure that Fringe gathers enough viewers to stay afloat. I’ll certainly be using it. You can read the entire list (on its cooly formatted webpage) here.

In the meantime, keep checking back throughout the week for more Fringe scoop, news, and ways you can spread the word about the returning sci-fi masterwork.

Fringe will return on Friday, January 21 with the new episode “Firefly,” which guest stars Back to the Future‘s Christopher Lloyd.
