Girls Meets World Finds Its Girl
Those of us that like to drop nostalgia like its acid were more than enthused when news broke that Cory and Topanga would be back for a new Disney Channel show that featured them as parents of a teenage daughter. It was naturally called "Girl Meets World" and so began a hunt from the fresh face who would have the titular role.
One has now been found in the form of Rowan Blanchard. EW reports the 11 year old got the part after a national casting search, though the character is meant to be 13 on the show. But you know how old girls are looking these days, and she'll likely be able to pull it off.
Blanchard has had small parts in Spy Kids 4 and The Back-Up Plan, but this is obviously a huge break for her. No word on if she'll have any older or younger siblings like Cory did.
I have to imagine Mr. Feeney is coming back for this. The guy followed the two of them everywhere, it stands to reason that he'd be teaching 8th grade again now or whatever they'd need him for. He is still alive, right? Answer: Yes, but he's 85. Yikes, might be pushing it.
Glad to see this project coming together, and I hope that it can come close to capturing some of the magic of the original.
