The Good Wife is one of the best shows on TV right now, if you ask anyone who watches The Good Wife, but now it’s creators are moving to a…different sort of project. CBS has already picked up the pilot for “Brain Dead” which is described as “a comedic horror hourlong show set in the world of D.C. politics” and “West Wing” meets “The Strain.”
The title implies zombies, but comparisons to The Strain would suggest vampires, but we don’t have any idea what its about past these loose descriptions. And on top of all of that, it’s a comedy to boot. There are a few zombie comedies that come to mind offhand, Warm Bodies and Zombieland, but throw in a political angle and possible vampires, and it’s hard to have any idea what this series will look like. Needless to say, I don’t think it will be very similar tonally to The Good Wife.
But The Good Wife co-creators Robert and Michelle King have signed a three-year deal with CBS, and probably a few projects will spawn out of that, Brain Dead included. Hopefully we’ll hear some more details about the mystery horror/political/comedy, but for now I guess we’ll just have to be content being confused.
What do you make of all this? Is there room on TV to combine this many genres into one program? And on CBS no less? It seems like a strange place for this to land, as it would feel more at home on FX rather than bumped up next to CSI and Law and Order and The Big Bang Theory. Still, I’ll admit I’m intrigued.
