The world of Gossip Girl is about to become a bloodbath and I can't wait to get a front row seat.

While curiously looking for any information on if there was another Gossip Girl novel coming out anytime soon (the last novel in the Gossip Girl: The Carlyles series was released over almost two years ago), I came across an interesting nugget on Amazon. com which involved an upcoming book called Gossip Girl: Psycho Killer by Cecily von Ziegesar.

Thinking that my mind was playing tricks on me (and that someone at Amazon was possibly dropping some serious acid while uploading information), I clicked on the title to discover that this book is real and will hit bookshelves October 3 2011, where I will no doubt be to snatch a copy as soon as it comes out the box.

Taking a page out of the recent horror mashups of such classics like Pride and Prejudice and Zombies and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, this retelling of the first original Gossip Girl novel (which The CW show is based on) takes a slasher turn as Serena van der Woodsen returns home to make amends with her best friend Blair Waldorf only to discover that Blair is not too thrilled of Serena and Nate's hookup. Trying to appease her friend, Serena attempts to kill Nate, but Blair has other people on her mind to kill off... like Chuck Bass and Cyrus Rose to name a few.

Why isn't it October yet?

The book description even goes as far as comparing these new deadly versions of Blair and Serena to Bret Easton Ellis's infamous American Psycho character Patrick Bateman. With comparisons like that, there is no way in hell I'm going to pass this book up. What about you fellow Gossip Girl fans? Will you be picking this one up as well?
