Whilst it remains uncertain whether Desmond Harrington will make it to the end of next week's Dexter alive, he will be appearing on the Upper East Side in Gossip Girl early next year.

Whilst discussing the fate of Quinn with E!'s TV scoop queen Kristin Dos Santos the conversation turned to his role of Gossip Girl's top Chuck Bass antagonist Jack Bass:

And if you like your Desmond a little darker, good news: Gossip Girl producers have asked him to reprise his role as Jack Bass around February. Bring on the Basshole!

This is indeed good news Gossip Girl fans as whilst his character is downright despicable, after the Juliet story gets tied up there will be no villain left to disrupt the lavish and fabulous lives of those on the Upper East Side. Jenny for now seems banished for a while, Vanessa is a less than capable opponent and who knows where Georgina Sparks is and when she will reappear. Jack is a brilliant foil for Chuck as he knows right where to hurt him and has done so in the past; using both Blair and his mother to try and destroy Chuck and his business.

So Gossip Girl fans, how do you think the Bass uncle will reappear? Just as Chuck and Blair are edging closer to a relationship again is my theory and he will put a spanner in the works for this reconciliation. Of course a plot to take down Chuck will be present as well, but will he try and take The Empire again (hopefully not) or will there be another grand and diabolical plan to destroy his nephew. It all sounds like the makings of a Greek tragedy to me and I cannot wait for his return. Are there any other characters that you are hoping to see return to the show?
