I didn’t watch reruns of The Vampire Diaries over the summer, so recently I was questioning whether the show was as good as I had remembered.  Last week I finally sat down to watch a rerun and I was all “Yes!  I LOVE this show, it’s so awesome!”  And it’s true.  The season 2 premiere airs on September 9 (see promo photos we previously posted and view a trailer) and now the CW has released photos from the second episode, which is set to air on September 16.

This episode may finally put to rest the age old question of who’s better at arm wrestling: vampires or werewolves?  Also, how cute are Stefan and Damon in the photo below?  All stoic with their arms crossed across their chests.  I miss this show so much and I can’t wait for the premiere.

Read Mark’s terrific “Previously On…The Vampire Diaries” to review what happened last season and learn more about what’s in store for season 2.

When a confused and desperate Caroline (Candice Accola) leaves the hospital and joins her friends at the Mystic Falls Carnival, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) wants to take immediate action, but Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) come to Caroline’s defense. Matt (Zach Roerig) is completely mystified by Caroline’s behavior, but still tries to tell her about his feelings for her.

Damon has suspicions about Tyler’s Uncle Mason (guest star Taylor Kinney) and uses Tyler’s (Michael Trevino) volatile personality in an attempt to get Mason to reveal his secret. Upset with everything going on around her, Bonnie (Katerina Graham) takes her anger out on Damon. Steven R. McQueen also stars.

Real Housewives: ‘NJ’ Casting Rumors, Lisa Hartwell’s New Gig » Real Housewives: ‘NJ’ Casting Rumors, Lisa Hartwell’s New Gig

Real Housewives: NJ Casting Rumors, Lisa Hartwells New GigThe rumor train won’t stop this week for The Real Housewives as news today reveal what could be casting news on the new New Jersey Housewife.

According to Jennifer Sale of Chicago Now and RadarOnline.com, the possible new addition to the New Jersey cast is none other than Melissa Gorga, who just happens to be Teresa Giudice’s sister-in-law through marriage to Teresa’s brother, Giuseppe Gorga. Radar reports that the production for the show has been filming at Melissa’s house, which is reported to put Teresa’s mansion to complete and utter shame. According to a Giudice family friend, cameras have been at Melissa’s house “filming for weeks.” Now if this is true, then Bravo knew before the record breaking reunion aired that they were bringing the show back. Plus, TMZ has reported that Teresa, along with Caroline and Jacqueline, have yet to sign officially sign the dotted line for Season Three, so again all of this should be met with a resounding “Hmmm…”

But since we are talking gossip, Melissa could serve as a thorn in Teresa’s side if reports are true. Remember Danielle’s comment about Teresa’s nephew that sent Teresa into She-Hulk mode? Well, it could be that Melissa could be the nephew in question. But again, I don’t know if Melissa is even the parent of this kid, but speculation says that she is. If this is all true, then Season Three can’t get here quick enough.

In other Housewife news, former Atlanta Housewife Lisa Wu Hartwell will be emceeing “Tybee Throws A Fit” with her husband, Ed Hartwell. The duo will be leading a dance party theme aerobics workout at the event, which is a popular fitness program that comes once a year. For full information, follow this link here.  The event will take place this Labor Day Weekend (Sept.4) in Tybee Island, Georgia.

 Previously On... The Vampire Diaries

Season 2 Premiere: Thursday, September 9 at 8:00 p.m. on the CW

Next week this time, we will be viewing a fresh, new episode of The Vampire Diaries and acting a fool in the process. It’s okay. We are owed that God given right to lose our minds since we have suffered miserably this entire summer after that neck-snapping season finale back in May. Have you recovered? If you answered no, then welcome to the club. You are not alone. If you did ‘recover’, then not only are you a boldfaced lie, but you obviously aren’t emotionally involved with The Vampire Diaries and should be ashamed. There. I said it and meant it.

With one week to go, it is only proper for us to remind you of what happened on that fateful night back in May. So get your pencils and scorecards out to keep up with the number of cliffhangers that were served to us in a multitude of bitchslaps. Did Jeremy turn? Will Caroline survive the crash? Will Tyler what the hell is Tyler? Will Damon’s kiss to ‘Elena’ start up something crazy? Will Katherine make it rain blood in the town of Mystic Falls? Let’s begin…

What You Should Know

Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) has had one hell of a year that came to a cataclysmic finish that is nowhere near finished…

John Gilbert’s Great Plan – Using a device to expose vampires so he could eradicate them from Mystic Falls, John Gilbert (David Anders) captured Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder), Anna (Malese Jow) and Mayor Lockwood and tried to burn them all. John personally staked Anna, who was in love with John’s nephew Jeremy Gilbert (Steven R. McQueen). Mayor Lockwood, who wasn’t a vampire, was killed by another vampire before Damon could find out the mayor’s supernatural secret. John’s great plan also affected Tyler Lockwood (Michael Trevino) as he was driving Matt (Zach Roering) and Caroline (Candice Accola) home, resulting in a car crash that left Caroline’s life in limbo.

The Betrayal – The device John used for his deed was supposed to have been deactivated by Elena’s best friend Bonnie (Katerina Graham), but she didn’t do it because she’s on a vengeance mission against the Salvatore brothers. After all the drama that has went down after the device was used, Elena might will have a bone or two to pick with Mystic Falls’ resident witch.

Lives in Danger – While waiting in the hospital to see if Caroline is okay, her mother Sheriff Forbes informs Matt and Tyler that she will have to undergo a risky surgery. Will she make it? Meanwhile after finding out from Damon of Anna’s death, Jeremy takes drastic measures by drinking Anna’s blood and taking an overdose of painkillers. Will he turn?

The Forbidden Love Triangle Has Formed – Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) notices his brother Damon’s growing feelings for Elena and warns the bad boy vamp to stay away. But with Elena being a doppleganger for Damon and Stefan’s first love and vampire maker Katherine (also Dobrev), how could he resist? At the end of the night’s events, Damon lets his heart melt as he reveals his true feelings to ‘Elena’ and plants a forbidden kiss on her. Uh-oh…

The Bitch is Back! – After realizing that he was a complete asshole, John tries to make up with Elena when she comes home later that night. Only thing is that he wasn’t talking with Elena, he was talking to KATHERINE, who had just kissed Damon outside the house. The baddest vampiress in Mystic Falls doesn’t take long before making mince meat of John with a knife, but as she was doing this, Elena walks into the house, not knowing the hell waiting for her in the kitchen and upstairs.

Psych 5.08 “Shawn 2.0″ Review » Psych 5.08 “Shawn 2.0″ Review

With Nestor Carbonell and Curt Smith guest starring this week, will we Shout praises of this episode or will all be Lost in the guest stars?

The guest star’s this week were played excellent. Curt Smith playing Curt Smith? Who knew he would work in that character. Granted I don’t know much about Tears for Fears, apart from the song Shout, but I really loved Curt in the episode. He was hilarious with his back and forth between Declan and his awkwardness towards Shawn was down right perfect. After all Shawn was confessing his love towards Curt. Now Nestor Carbonell really impressed me this episode. As Declan Rand, yeah even I think it’s a funny name, Carbonell stole the scenes he was in. Being that he was playing a new and improved Shawn, Declan was still a fresh character that will do well as a recurring character. On a side note, I loved the remark about Carbonell’s eyes. I guess it’s not just Lost fans who notice that Carbonell has the appearance of wearing guy-liner.

I have to say that I never expected this story to be this good and well written. When I saw that it was about donor patients dying, I figured it would just be someone on the donor list killing them. Well I was half right but, I did not expect the suprise twist the writers threw in to confuse almost every watcher. Throw in some great 80′s and 90′s pop culture references, a new yet not as funny Shawn-esque Declan, and some great music/dialogue from Curt Smith, and this story was not only bearable but, great to re-watch again and again. Psych 5.08 Shawn 2.0 Review

Gus this week was not given a nickname. I would have been upset but that was overshadowed this week as we viewers were finally given some addition to the overall season story-arc. It’s been awhile since Shawn has discussed feelings for Juliet but, I can see he has been harboring his feelings of possible love for some time. I like that Shawn became somewhat vulnerable when competing against Declan and I thought he was going to spill his secret. Alas, Declan made himself the hero thus sustaining his recurring role as what I believe will be Juliet’s boyfriend, much to the disgust of Shawn.

This episode was all around great from start to finish. I really hope next weeks summer finale can continue the momentum from this week. A+

Big Brother 12 Week 8 POV Competition Recap » Big Brother 12 Week 8 POV Competition Recap

Big Brother 12 Week 8 POV Competition RecapSome bold moves were made tonight on Big Brother, both physically and strategically. Did Ragan or Enzo save their behind in the POV? Let’s find out.

After the Nomination Ceremony, the reactions are pretty predictable, but after talking with Enzo, Ragan realizes that Enzo is the most expendable of the Brigade alliance.

Next we are subjected to the “shunning” of Enzo’s penguin costume, which is forgettable at best. Later, we watch as Ragan studies up for the POV competition, but doesn’t he get that the motto of Big Brother is “Expect The Unexpected?”

Proving me right, Big Brother cooks up Otev (“Veto” spelled backwards) the Musical Clam. The set up reminds me of a Veto competition from an earlier season (I think last year’s). The concept is for the House Guests to search for CDs with a mash up of two evicted House Guests’ name, for example Monet + Matt – “Monatt”. Lane is knocked out first, then Hayden, and then Britney. The last two standing are the nominees Enzo and Ragan and the stakes are oh so high. The next thing to go down is so hilarious and so jaw dropping good that I wish like hell there was a clip for me to show you what happened. Britney says it best as she tell the Big Brother diary room, “If you guys don’t replay what happened in slow motion I will never speak to you again.”

When Otev the Clam announces the two Houseguest names, Enzo and Ragan make a mad dash to the CD pretty much clobbering one another in the process. Enzo grabs the CD and races back to the clam stand, clearly the winner. Ragan, in a fit of rage and defeat, lunges a CD to Otev the Clam’s head that bounces of it and onto Enzo’s head. WOWOWOWOWOW!!!! I’m sure that a fight is about to break out of some sort, but it’s only Ragan whining “Leave me alone!” as Enzo loudly explains that it’s all about who wants to stay here the most. Again, WOWOOWOWOWOOWW!!!!!!

After the competition, Ragan runs to the Cabana Room and cries, while Enzo gloats on how he is never losing anything again and Big Brother 12 Week 8 POV Competition Recap how Ragan is a sore loser. While Ragan acted pretty jacked up, Enzo’s actions are even less than admirable, IMHO.

Britney tries to see where Hayden’s head is on replacement nominations, and of course Hayden isn’t trying to hear his name associated with the block anymore. Later, Britney asks Lane whether or not if she’s safe or not. He remains cryptic, while Britney’s nerves are being shot one by one.

As punishment #2 for Lane opening Pandora’s Box, the Houseguests have to wear and talk with sock puppets for the next twelve hours. The third punishment? They must stop and dance every time some music comes on over the intercom. They all look like complete idiots and I want my eyes plugged out during this segment.

Back to game play, Lane asks Hayden if he would be okay on going on the block. Hayden and Hayden’s hair balk at this suggestion, especially when Lane declares that he doesn’t want to send Britney home. Later that night, Britney and Lane have a comedic tiff about who Lane likes more: Britney or Hayden. Of course, Lane likes Britney more for obvious reasons, but he was bound by the “Bros Before “H*es” pledge the Brigade made when they formed, and miserably failed to keep up immediately afterwards. But will Lane uphold the pledge this time?

Hell no. Lane puts up Hayden in place of Enzo. Shocker! Hayden’s reaction? Not so much of a shocker. Ragan almost wants to laugh his ass off, but thankfully doesn’t. Britney is in the final four and I could be nothing but thrilled.

Your thoughts?

Promo – My Generation » Promo – My Generation

The new ABC documentary-style show, My Generation, will be premiering on Thursday, September 23.  The network has released a summary of the show and its characters, as well as a long trailer for the show.

Promo My GenerationWhat a difference ten years can make. In 2000 a documentary crew follows a disparate group of high school seniors from Greenbelt High School in Austin, TX, as they prepare for graduation, and revisits them ten years later, in 2010, as they return home to rediscover that, just because they’re not where they planned to be, that doesn’t mean they’re not right where they need to be.

None of these students couldn wait to graduate and head out into the real world, but the world they were entering got very real, very fast. Personal, social and global events of the last decade shaped and altered their life courses, and when the documentarian reconnects with them, they’re faced with the questions of whether their old hopes and dreams were realized, what they’ve become and where they’re still headed.

Camera lenses takes us on a path of self-discovery, offering a window into the personal lives of these fomer classmates. There’s Steven Foster, “the overachiever,” who found it impossible to live up to his father’s expectations and escaped to Hawaii to become a surfer. Steven returns to Austin after a call from Caroline Chung, the shy “wallflower” in high school, who has decided to break the news that she’s raising his nine year old son, conceived on prom night.

Kenneth Finley, “the nerd” and all-around good guy, is now a teacher and wants nothing more than to have kids and a family of his own. He has created a sort of surrogate family in the meantime by allowing his former high school sweetheart, Dawn Barbuso, “the punk,” to stay at his house until her baby is born in three months. Dawn’s husband, Rolly Marks, Greenbelt High’s former star athlete and “the jock,” is serving his country in Afghanistan.

High school “beauty queen” Jackie Vachs returned to Austin when her Hollywood dreams didn’t pan out. She’s in a marriage of convenience to “rich kid” Anders Holt, and wears a thin veneer of polished marital bliss… until she bumps into Steven following his return to Austin.

Brenda Serrano, the class “brain” who thought she had found her soulmate in Anders, has not fully recovered from their high school break-up, despite her high-powered job working for a Congressman in DC. A call about her ailing mother will bring her back to their old stomping grounds.

And The Falcon, “the rock star” free spirit, is still chasing his rock & roll dreams. Though producing, deejaying and tapped into the underground music scene, it’s his ties to his old friends that keeps him rooted.

The scripted drama follows the personal stories of these nine friends. The promises they thought their futures held, as well as how far they’ve come and just how they got here are all told through the camera of a documentary film crew.

“My Generation” stars Michael Stahl-David as Steven, Jaime King as Jacqueline, Kelli Garner as Dawn, Keir O’Donnell as Kenneth, Sebastian Sozzi as The Falcon, Mehcad Brooks as Rolly, Anne Son as Caroline, Daniella Alonso as Brenda and Julian Morris as Anders.

Photos & Promo Raising Hope 1.01 PilotRAISING HOPE is a new single-camera family comedy from Emmy Award winner Greg Garcia that follows the Chance family as they find themselves adding an unexpected new member into their household.

At 23 years old, JIMMY CHANCE (Lucas Neff) is going nowhere in life. He skims pools for a living, parties every night and still lives at home with his family, including his MAW MAW (Cloris Leachman); his mother, VIRGINIA (Martha Plimpton) and his father, BURT (Garret Dillahunt).

Jimmy’s life takes a drastic turn when a chance romantic encounter with LUCY (guest star Bijou Phillips) goes awry once he discovers she is a wanted felon. Months later, when Jimmy pays a visit to the local prison, he learns Lucy is pregnant with their baby, and after she gives birth, he is charged with raising their daughter.

Back at home, Jimmy’s family is less than enthusiastic about a new addition to the household. His parents, who had him when they were 15, never knew anything about raising a child and have no interest in trying again. Jimmy may be able to get some help from SABRINA (Shannon Woodward), a sardonic checkout clerk he met at the supermarket if only he can work up the nerve to ask her out. Despite it all, Jimmy is determined to take care of his baby – whom Virginia thinks they should name HOPE.

With very few useful skills but their hearts in the right place, will the Chance family be successful when they step into the unpredictable and immensely challenging world of parenting?

Rewind Recap – Third Watch 1.16: “Nature or Nurture” » Rewind Recap – Third Watch 1.16: “Nature or Nurture”

Rewind Recap Third Watch 1.16: Nature or NurtureOriginal Air Date: February 28, 2000

Third Watch was, at times, funnier than most sitcoms I’ve seen. For a drama, it knew how to bring an element of humor without losing its credibility. “Nature or Nurture” features a plotline that had me laughing almost nonstop, thanks to Bosco (who else?), while also presenting a serious debate between Doc and Carlos over whether it’s your environment or yourself that shapes who you are. The combination of the two makes this one of my favorite episodes of the first season.

From the get-go, things are off: Jimmy walks into an awkward situation when son Joey meets new girlfriend Brooke while he’s in the shower. Yet that’s nowhere near as funny as what happens next. Bosco is on his  way to work, when two guys attempt to rob him. Being that this is Bosco we’re talking about, he not only foils the robbery, but decides to rob them instead – taking their wallets and all their clothes and leaving them standing outside in twenty-degree weather. Jason Wiles plays this with such glee it’s impossible not to enjoy it just as much as he does, while also knowing that this is going to come back and bite him in the behind bigtime.

No sooner has Bosco started his shift in possibly the best mood ever than the two guys are in the precinct, filing a complaint against the mysterious guy who robbed them. Bosco panics over this, and it only gets worse, as when he pulls Faith aside to tell her why he’s wound up, Sully and Davis happen to overhear. Needless to say, our favorite beat cop’s mood goes downhill in a hurry. “I am so screwed,” he moans. “I swear if I make it out of this, I’m going to get like a…lobotomy.” The resulting conversation he has with Faith, begging her to help him, is priceless:

Bosco: I swear to God, Faith, I swear I’ll change. I’ll get help. I really will.
Yokas:
Therapy. Licensed, able to prescribe medication type therapy.

Meanwhile, Doc and Carlos are dispatched to the shooting of a Latin Posse gang member, and as Carlos says, “We’re going to be back and forth all day, cleaning up the payback, and the payback for the payback.” Not long later, they’re dealing with a member of the rival gang who’s also been shot, and his younger brother who pulls a gun on them saying they’d better keep him alive.  They manage to do so, but it’s not easy. Witnesses report the incident, and Sully and Davis investigate, but Doc doesn’t want to press the matter any further. In fact, he’s determined to find the brother before the cops do. He and Carlos get into another argument about what is best for kids in similar situations, which is food for thought. It’s heartbreaking to hear the victim’s mother say “You should have let him die.”

Bosco disposes of the evidence from his morning armed robbery while out on patrol. Faith warns him to “keep a low profile and stop yourself from running off at the mouth.” The expression on his face when she says that is priceless, as if to say ‘this is me you’re talking about,’ which is precisely her point. He’s not pleased when they get back to the squadroom and he sees the wanted flier considering him “armed and extremely dangerous,” especially since he thinks it looks nothing like him. His idea is to follow the two guys around waiting for them to do something else he can arrest them for. Yokas is thrilled.

Carlos has a change of heart, and though the shooting victim’s younger brother is picked up for a lineup, claims he can’t identify the kid. However, the good deed ends up being punished when both brothers are later involved in a hideous drive-by, the younger one killed instantly. Doc snaps, and decides to dump his eleven-year-old corpse in his apathetic brother’s lap, electing to refuse treatment to his older brother on that alone.

Bosco finally gets his opportunity at psuedo-redemption when the two would-be robbers try to hold up a jewelry store, and seizes it. There’s the obligatory chase when one of them tries to run (really, how many times did Jason Wiles have to chase somebody on this show? He might be fast, but that’s still got to be a pain), but they’re arrested and he gets Faith to agree to take them back to the precinct alone so he’s not identified.

There’s a third plot about Jimmy’s gambling and how his crappy parenting is continuing to mess up Joey, but it only serves to highlight how much of a loser he can be, considering he tries to get money out of his son’s college fund to pay off his debt and by episode’s end, loses his car and gets beaten up while his son watches. The show goes to pains almost to show how dysfunctional Kim and Jimmy’s relationship can be, and how their child suffers for it, yet surprisingly they ended up remarried and back together at the end of the series. Go figure.

I love this episode for a variety of reasons. The Bosco storyline is downright hilarious in its absurdity, and both Jason Wiles – he of the incredible talent for snark in both dialogue and just the expression on his face – and Molly Price play it perfectly. Coby Bell and Skipp Sudduth aren’t in this one much, but Ty and Sully’s reactions to Bosco’s predicament are funny anyway. Yet as funny as this episode is, it also provides some food for thought in the Doc and Carlos storyline. Both sides of the argument can be identified with, and the final image of Doc leaving the body of one brother in the lap of another is poignant. This is another example of how Third Watch can balance comedy and drama in the same episode effectively, without tilting too far one way or the other, and as such is a more complete hour of television than most shows can ever hope to be.
