abbyCBS announced earlier today that effective immediately Harper's Island will be pulled from its plush spot behind "CSI" on Thursday nights and thrust down to that place where failing shows go, on Saturday's at 9 p.m., as the lead-in for "48 Hours Mystery."

Harper's Island, a limited-run horror/mystery series set to run for only 13 episodes, has been falling sharply with its ratings.  The new series premiered with just over ten million viewers three weeks ago, but last week was only pulling in around 7 million viewers, a low number for powerhouse CBS, and especially a low number for a show following "CSI."

CBS also said that the only reason the show wasn't outright canceled was due to strong online viewing, and a significant increase in ratings when looking at DVR viewing of the show. It's also likely that the fact that all 13 episodes of the series have already been shot played a role in CBS's decision as well.

This Thursday, May 2, CBS will air a repeat of "Criminal Minds" and next week a repeat of "CSI" in "Island's" place.

Oh, that's terrible news. I finally had a full Thursday night line up. I'll continue to follow the show on Saturdays, but it's not a great time.

Ratings may have dropped, but in all honesty, I haven't seen much – if any – advertising since it premiered.

I am hoping that Global continues the show on Thursdays as scheduled…it's on this Thursday anyways. There are several shows that air up here before the US, the Mentalist and Gossip Girl comes on on Sundays, and Bones often comes on Wednesdays.

I can not believe with such a large following CBS was thinking of cancelling the show. Why start a murder mystery show to HOOK the viewers and then cancel??

CBS does that ALL the time! I am at the point that I may start boycotting CBS because they start a show and never follow through!!!!

PLEASE KEEP THE SERIES ON UNTIL THE END!

I couldn't agree with you more! And what makes this instance even worse is that they've already filmed all 13 episodes of Harper's Island. So its not like they're going to lose money making more of them. Crazy stuff.

I see CBS is still up to their old tricks. Moving shows around, playing with them like it's a game and they expect the viewers to suck it up and follow along. I thought I learned my lesson with Jericho but apparently not. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice – shame on me.
