While the Arrested Development movie seems to be in some stage of production for a 2011 release, Mitch Hurwitz isn't limiting himself to that project. The forty-six-year-old creator of one of television's greatest sitcoms is coming back to FOX for another go, and he's not coming back alone. Will Arnett, famous for playing older brother Gob Bluth on Arrested Development, is coming along with him as the star of the sitcom.
Yes, it's been a while since Arnett has regularly graced our screens aside from his recurring role on 30 Rock (though his guest role in Parks & Recreation alongside his wife Amy Poehler was hilarious), and it'll be good to see him back at doing what he does best: being a complete and utter jerk, with some (but few) sympathetic qualities.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, that's exactly what he's doing in Hurwitz's as-yet untitled pilot (which Arnett co-wrote). Here's the synopsis from THR:
It stars Arnett as a rich Beverly Hills jackass who falls in love with a charitable tree-hugging woman who can't stand his lifestyle or values.
Wow, I can see this show already, can't you?
No news yet on who will be playing the female lead/tree hugger, though I'm sure some of Hollywood's comedic actress's would jump at the chance to star in a show by some of television's funniest writers.
The single-camera comedy was greenlit in August, and we'll likely start to hear more about it this summer. We might even see it in the fall, if FOX picks it up. After all, if it can capture half the magic that Arrested Development did, it'll likely be one of the best shows of next year.

Yay! Can't wait. Hurwitz is pure genius.
