Jessica Simpson is now engaged to NFL star Eric Johnson, after just six-months of dating.  As reality TV fans know, Simpson's married life has been previously marketed - successfully, I might add - when the songstress wed Nick Lachey who himself is engaged to Vanessa Minnillo, former host of MTV's TRL.  Coincidence?  Nobody is announcing a new television venture yet, so let's see if we can help this along.

Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey broke ground with Newlyweds, setting off a procession of stalkervision reality shows designed to invite we the viewers into the dysfunctional lives of the celebrities.  Keeping that in mind, how can it not be possible that one, or even both, of these couples are being pursued by everyone from MTV to Lifetime to do this whole thing all over again.

For Simpson, it would be the hanging question of where here sensibilities have gone since Newlyweds where she was often depicted as, well, kind of annoying and immature.

For Lachey, it's the opposite proposition.  Week after week, Newlyweds brought overtures of 'Poor Nick' from audiences around the globe - is this his chance at true love?  Love that will last?

Neither of these ideas are ambitious enough, though.  What this situation calls for is both couples in one box.  Jessica, rushing into commitment in an attempt to show up Nick.  Nick playing the nice-guy he is, just trying to ignore the overshadowing impetuousness of his ex.  Come on, this is good TV people.  Who's with me?

Again, so far nobody is proposing any new Jessica Simpson or Nick Lachey reality show, but with both stars fading fast it seems like it is just about time.
