JJ Abrams: From Alias and LOST to Star Wars
The big, giant news of the day is that JJ Abrams has reportedly been attached to direct Star Wars Episode VII. The news was first posted by The Wrap, which said that Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy has been courting Abrams to take the job for months.
JJ Abrams has previously said he wouldn't do it when asked about the possibility, but the "lure of the Force was too strong" according to sources. Also under consideration was Ben Affleck, the actor turned director who has yet to make a bad movie.
I'm reporting this here because we all know that Abrams got his start in TV with Alias, Felicity and LOST. It seems a lot of the big name geek directors started on television, and Joss Whedon comes to mind after his success with The Avengers.
Some fans are miffed that JJ Abrams would be going from Star Trek to its arch rival Star Wars. He's just finishing up Star Trek Into the Darkness and Episode VII would have to be his next film if they really do want to hit that 2015 release date.
What do you think of this news? Is Abrams a good pick for Star Wars?
