Jonah Hill and Leonardo DiCaprio To Work on Rapper Q-Tip’s Hip Hop Drama

Do you know anything at all about the seminal 90’s trip hop and jazz influenced rap band, Tribe Called Quest? If you don’t, you should. They were making better and braver hip hop than any of their peers, and are legends now as a result. Seems Jonah Hill and Leonardo DiCaprio are fans, as they are helping rapper Q-Tip to bring the story of his early days and the early days of the band to the small screen for a TV show.

The as of now untitled show will be brought to life with Leonardo’s production company, Appian Way. Jonah Hill and Leonardo DiCaprio are said to be developing the series with Q-Tip, and intend to shop the idea around to different networks next week. The show will focus on the early days of Tribe Called Quest. How they came to be? How their Afrocentric sound and style worked itself into the New York hip hop scene and took it over, and the subsequent affect they had on the rest of music.

Being a huge fan of Tribe Called Quest, Jonah Hill, and Leonardo DiCaprio, this is the best TV news I have heard all week. I will say this to the networks right now: passing on this show would be an utterly stupid move. There has never been a show like this and with the talent involved, it cannot fail. Thanks to Deadline Hollywood for the info.
