Kevin Connolly Wants to Direct ‘Entourage’ Film

Before we get started, I just have to ask: how are you liking TVOvermind’s slick new design? I’m definitely loving it myself, and you should too — now, you’ll be able to see all the news for your favorite shows that much more easily, thanks to the menu above.

Like Entourage. Though I no longer consider the HBO series to be in my top shows (or even one I watch), Entourage is still kicking through its seventh season, which began last month. I quit watching midway through season six because the plot felt like a stalemate, but with the end of the series approaching next year, it might be picking up the pace. (Probably not.)

In any case, after Entourage‘s eighth and final season finishes next year, we’ll be seeing Vinny Chase and his titular group of friends again. Oh yes, just because they won’t be on HBO doesn’t mean they won’t be on the screen. That’s right; the show that has been called “Sex and the City with a Y chromosome” is pulling a total Sex and the City and making a movie.

Of course, that’s really old news. You all knew that, right? Maybe here’s what you didn’t know: Kevin Connolly is the frontrunner for the director’s chair.

Okay, maybe that’s just what he wants you to think, but Connolly, who portrays Vincent’s manager Eric “E” Murphy on the series, wants to helm the film as a director. Connolly previously directed an episode of Entourage, so he has slightly more cred than we might believe. “I’m throwing my hat into the ring. I want to be considered. I want to direct the movie,” Connolly said, rather straightforwardly. “[The Sex and the City movie] opened the door for us, but I definitely want to make a movie. I’m starting this rumour that I’m the frontrunner to direct.”

Entourage will return Sunday night on HBO for the fourth episode of its seventh season, “Tequila Sunrise.”
