Kings was nothing short of magnificent. The use of language, the dialogue were to die for -- and yet each character spoke in a distinct voice. I found myself mesmerized listening to these people speak. And drama? Plenty of it here, without ever once sliding into melodrama. These storylines were taut, focused, edge-of-the-chair material. You found yourself thinking hard about each episode long after it was over and wanting to discuss it with friends. And the acting was top notch -- nobody in that illustrious cast put a foot wrong, ever. Hell, the show should have been up for half a dozen Emmys!! Every bit as good as the best you ever saw on PBS or HBO. If I thought there was even the slightest chance that anybody would pick it up several months after cancellation, I'd say HBO would have been an excellent home for it. If you've never seen Kings, not even on Hulu, get this DVD set -- you won't be sorry.

I worshipped this show, and I was absolutely blown away by Sebastian Stan. I can't stand that it didn't even get a full season; there was so much depth, so much to play with there.

It probably was too much of a cable-style show for network TV, but it also suffered because the promos were too vague and no one knew what the show was about. Add that to the fact that they gave its awesome Thursday night timeslot to Southland (now also canceled) and the pushed it to Sunday...well, it was doomed from the start.

This is definitely going on my DVDs-to-buy list!
