Lorne Michaels Wants to Bring Back “Kids in the Hall” to Netflix

Recently, there is news that Lorne Michaels has contacted the members of The Kids in the Hall about a new project that would be put on either Netflix or some other platform. The exact plan for how this will happen still sounds rather nebulous at the moment, but there is reason to believe that it will happen sooner rather than later, which should come as welcome news to those who remember the sketch comedy troupe.

Who Is Lorne Michaels?

There are people who will not have heard of Lorne Michaels, but chances are good that they don’t watch a great deal of late night TV. After all, Michaels is most famous for being the person who did not just create Saturday Night Live but has continued to produce it in the time since its initial creation. However, that is far from being his sole involvement with the entertainment industries, seeing as how he has been responsible for producing both Late Night and The Tonight Show since 1993 and 2014. Summed up, it is no exaggeration to say that Michaels possesses enormous clout when it comes to the world of entertainment, not least because he is involved with numerous other projects in various ways besides those that have been listed here.

Who Are The Kids in the Hall?

As for the other party in the proposed project, The Kids in the Hall are a sketch comedy troupe that started up in Canada in 1984. As a result, their name might no longer be particularly suitable for the five members, though they remain in excellent condition as comedians, as shown by the various projects that they have taken on their own.

Over the course of their career, The Kids in the Hall have released a lot of material. Primarily, they are known for the TV of the same name, which ran from 1989 to 1995 on various channels such as CBC in Canada and CBS, HBO, and Comedy Central in the United States. As a result, it can be said that they have had a fair amount of influence over comedy as a whole. Besides their TV show, The Kids in the Hall also released a movie called Brain Candy in 1996, which was followed up by a number of tours as well as performances at various events. Most recently, The Kids in the Hall produced a mini-series called Death Comes to Town in 2010, meaning that it has been some time since they have gotten together to make another a project.

Will This Happen?

At this point in time, it is too soon to say whether the proposed project will happen or not. However, it is interesting to note that one of the members of The Kids in the Hall has stated that he believes that no one is opposed to it, which is encouraging because under normal circumstances, one or more members of the troupe will have something else in their schedule. As a result, it is not impossible that interested individuals will be seeing something new from The Kids in the Hall in the not so distant future on either Netflix or some other platform, though they should still wait for further confirmation before letting their enthusiasm overcome them.
