dondraperI don't watch Mad Men.  I know I should.  I know everyone says it's awesome and I swear I'm going to get around to renting the first two seasons, but as of right now I don't know much about the show.  I didn't even know that the kid who played Angel's son on Angel: The Series (Vincent Kartheiser) was a regular until last month.  However, congrats, Vincent!   Kudos for landing a spot on a hit show!

For those of you who do watch the show, you'll be pleased to learn that AMC has renewed Mad Men for another season.  The third season premiere on August 16 drew over 4 million viewers.   The fourth season will likely premiere in the summer of 2010.

Cable networks have been jumping the gun lately with early renewal of shows.  Recently the SyFy Network accounced that it was rewnewing its nascent hit Warehouse 13 before the first season had even concluded.  I like this practice much better than the regular networks' practice of making you bite your nails while waiting for news that your favorite shows will be renewed.

AMC and production company Lionsgate were thrilled to share the news:

"It's been extremely gratifying to see 'Mad Men' develop in to such a pop-cultural phenomenon with such a passionate fan base," said Charlie Collier, president and general manager of AMC. "With this early fourth season renewal, we're excited to let our audience know the captivating world of Sterling Cooper will be back on AMC again next year."

Set in 1960s New York, the drama follows the lives of the ruthlessly competitive men and women of Madison Avenue advertising.

" 'Mad Men' continues to surpass all expectations with each new season and the series has become a signature show for Lionsgate around the world," said Kevin Beggs, Lionsgate's president of television programming and production.

P.S. Jon Hamm is hot.  I should be jumping on this bandwagon.
