Melrose Place Brings The Bitch Back

heather-locklear-shortThe CW's new do-over series, Melrose Place debuted last week to slightly lackluster ratings.  But something as small and insignificant as ratings doesn't bother The CW, they simply went out and snagged Heather Locklear to reprise her role as the ever Bitch-ful Amanda Woodward.  The vixen will return on the November 17 episode, but how long she remains is a mystery.  For those of us who remember the first time around, Locklear was brought in as a guest star originally, but ended up remaining on the original series for all of it's seven year run and was applauded as the reason for the shows ratings rise near the end of the first season.  But does Heather Locklear still have it?  Can she still breath life into this reboot?  Only time will tell.

Rumors have been swirling for over a month now that The CW was trying to land Locklear back to the show, but it was unclear whether Heather just wasn't interested, or if The CW just wasn't throwing enough money her way.  "We’re ecstatic to have the chance to bring Amanda Woodward back to ‘Melrose Place,'" said executive producers Todd Slavkin & Darren Swimmer. "Heather’s involvement in the show is something we’ve been working on for some time as we couldn’t imagine creating and producing this show without the iconic character’s inclusion."

Now we only need to wait it out and see if lightening can strike twice, or in this case if a single actress can lead two incarnations of the same show to ratings success.  Stay tuned...

Cool I look forward to her coming back. It is just weird that this is a spin off of a spin off of a spin off.

That woman does not age. She still looks gorgeous. I hope she helps the ratings because so far there seems to be a lot of set-up for sex and relationships but not too much plotting aside from that.

Bryan, at least your assessment didn't predict a dead on arrival type scenario. I don't think that ratings matter any more like they used to. Especially after I found out in my broadcasting class that ratings don't actually reflect the viewing audience.

But this announcement made my day, especially after last night's episode. WHOA!!!!!
