Misha Collins Talks Castiel's Role in Supernatural Season 7
In an exclusive interview with Aol TV, Supernatural star Misha Collins has revealed that he doesn't know where exactly his character is going in the show's seventh season.
After his character was turned into a godlike entity in the season six finale, it was announced that Collins would not be reprising his role as Castiel in a regular capacity come season seven. Fans on the CW drama didn't like this news very much, launching "Save Cas" campaigns in support of keeping Collins a regular on the series.

Speaking to Aol TV, Collins admitted he was only vaguely aware of fans' reaction to the change. "I haven't been keeping my finger on the pulse of [fan] campaigns, but I have gotten word from Warner Bros. that they were inundated with questions ... or something," he stated. "I don't really know what they were inundated with ... maybe it was just a flood; it could have been a flood in Burbank."
Collins continued on, confirming what he knew of Castiel's role on the series. "I am not going to be a series regular on Supernatural next year. I don't really know what my role on the show is going to be. I know that I'm going to be in the first two episodes at this point, but I don't know beyond that what the season holds for me."

Collins affirmed that he wanted "some redemption" for the character, whose relationship with the Winchesters took a dark turn in the second half of season seven. Since Castiel got a reprieve from his planned death in season six, there's hope of that redemption yet.
Supernatural will premiere on Friday, September 23 on the CW.
