The MTV Movie Awards was an annual staple for my childhood to teen years since its inception for three reasons, one of those obviously being my love for movies, especially the new summer blockbusters that were advertised throughout the awards telecast. The second reason was the sheer craziness of the program itself. Anyone remember Jason Voorhees getting the Lifetime Achievement Award? Outrageous. Lastly, whenever the MTV Movie Awards aired, my summer officially began.
Unfortunately back then, viewers weren't allowed to vote on their favorite films and stars, but with the constant advancement of technology and social media outlets, fans now have a voice in who walks away with the distinguished golden popcorn statue. Starting today (March 22), movie buffs are able log onto MovieAwards.MTV.com to vote for their favorite movies/actors/scenes to make the final cut for the 2011 MTV Movie Awards categories. After the end date of April 5th, the nominees will then tallied up and revealed on May 3rd for the public to vote again until June 3rd. The public will vote for an overall winner for each of the 13 categories, which includes a new category called "Best Line From a Movie." The voting period for the top award of the night, "Best Movie," will be open until the night of the awards show and throughout the telecast until it is time for the award to be announced.
Other than "Best Movie" and Best Line From a Movie," the rest of the categories are as follows -

Best Scared As Sh** Performance

Choose wisely, kids! With great power comes severe responsibility and the MTV Movie Awards voting shouldn't be taken too lightly.
The 2011 MTV Movie Awards, which is being produced by Mark Burnett of Survivor fame, will air live Sunday, June 5th 9pm/8c on MTV.
