theunusuals-canceledThe hard cold truth of television is that more often than not we find ourselves invested in series that ultimately don't last more than a season or two at best.  Nothing can be more discouraging and get our blood boiling than having our favorite, quality shows axed, especially when we see some of the trash that the networks keep, or have planned for the following year.  With that said I figured it would be a good idea to put together a list of the shows that have been canceled from the 2008 - 2009 season.  This list will include all of the broadcast network's scripted shows that will not be returning, even if they were canceled at midseason (it may include some reality shows that were canceled as well).  Also keep in mind that there are still a few shows whose fate has not yet been sealed.  If one of your favorites are on this list...you have my condolences.

If we're looking at the breakdown here:

    ABC – 7

    NBC – 6

    FOX – 4

    CBS – 5

    CW – 4

I wonder how this compares to the number of new shows each network is picking up next season. I think I remember reading that ABC or CBS (one of those) was picking up a ton of new comedies next season…all which will most likely be on this cancelled show report this time next year…

Hey Professorstotch! I believe ABC picked up 10 new shows for next season, 6 new dramas and 4 new comedies. Of course, not all of those 10 shows debut in the fall, some of them won't show up until midseason.

well, I guess SOMEONE had to pick the ones that actually DID need to be canceled. The following shows should have stayed.

      Terminator

      Reaper

      Without a Trace

      Eleventh Hour

They could have been replaced by putting THESE on the bye-bye list.

      American Idol

Grey's Anatomy (the only BAD hospital show in the past 15 years)

      Desperate Housewives

      Top Model

any of those HORRIBLE "Real Housewives" shows

Just get rid of that sexist Lifetime Channel altogether.

      The Closer

      Saving Grace

      The Office

      Dancing With The Stars

      Survivor

      Smallville

      Ugly Betty

and last and TIED for lease with all of the aforementioned,

      SOAP OPERAS
