Fact About Me #1: I used to loathe Nicole Richie. I thought she was a total waste of space.
Fact About Me #2: Once she dumped Paris Hilton, cleaned up her act, had a couple babies and settled down I started to like her. Ok, maybe not like - but at least respect. She got a signature look going (boho chic), developed a jewelry line and gave her daughter a pretty cool name that wasn't too ridiculous. So it was all good.
Fact About Me #3: I don't like it when people who don't really have much acting talent (see: Paris, Ashlee Simpson, most reality stars) try to be actors. I get that people want to be famous. But I'm not an actress and I wouldn't foist myself on anyone, so why do these people keep insisting on appearing on television and in movies?
Now I'm trying to reconcile Facts #2 and #3. Because, according to Variety, Nicole Richie has just landed a role in a comedy pilot on ABC. I just don't understand. I don't want to hate Nicole, but I'm so confused. Can she really act? I didn't see her appearances on Chuck or 8 Simple Rules, so I'm not sure. Does anyone know the answer to this?
The script, which is being produced through Sony Pictures TV, would feature Richie as a professional woman with complicated family relationships and struggling to figure out what role she'll take as her life and her family evolve.
Daisy Gardner ("Californication") is set to write the comedy; Warren Bell ("According to Jim") will exec produce and supervise the pilot script. Jamie Tarses is attached as an exec producer.
Richie had the initial idea for the show. She'll get a producing credit in addition to starring. Michael Baum of Impression Entertainment is also a producer.
