‘Numb3rs’ Down for the Count?

If you’ll forgive me for the bad pun in the title of this article, then we can move on to the big news, and that is that things aren’t looking good for Numb3rs. The CBS crime procedural, which stars Rob Morrow as an FBI agent and David Krumholtz as his mathematical genius brother, is looking toward an impending cancellation. The sixth season of the drama was originally set for twenty-two episodes, but CBS has recently shaved off six episodes of that for a sixteen-episode season, says the Hollywood Reporter.

While no decision has been made about the show’s future past the sixteen episodes, ratings have been dismal for the Friday show. The most recent episode of the show only averaged a 1.7 rating/6 share among adults 18-49 and 7.9 million viewers overall.

There are plenty of potential replacements for Numb3rs on cue at CBS — the Canadian procedural Flashpoint is especially a strong replacement possibility, because it has previously performed strongly in the Friday slot that Numb3rs is now in.

In any case, things are not looking good for the series, which is already been secured for syndication by CBS. “Continuing it at the high cost associated with a long-running drama is considered unlikely,” says the Hollywood Reporter.

Is the number up for Numb3rs?
