Peter Dinklage Explains Why ‘Its The Perfect Time’ To End ‘Game Of Thrones’

Peter Dinklage gives a great explanation of why it’s the perfect time for Game of Thrones to end. No one that’s a fan of the show really wants to admit it but the fact is that if the show was allowed to go on for much longer it would likely suffer as other shows have from being allowed to run for extra seasons just as the fans have wanted. That unfortunately is the way to slow and methodical death of any show that happens to be so loved, especially if the main story has already been played out and the characters have reached a terminus beyond which there is no real development left.

There might be a possibility of a prequel to the show if George R. R. Martin can be bothered for it, and possibly a follow-up in the next five to ten years maybe, but at this point it’s best to let people enjoy the show as it’s been given and just move on to another show once the next season is over and done with. Besides that fact, GoT season 8 is supposedly going to play out more like a series of movie-length episodes since they are bound to be much longer in order to accommodate all the plot points that must be tied up and settled. Chances are that fans will still beg for more and analyze just what happens to those characters they don’t feel get enough exposure, but at one point the show will end.

Game of Thrones has been an epic since season 1 when we didn’t get to see much but still could surmise that it was something special. We were given the chance to witness the rising tensions between two great houses and the spark that flared into an all out confrontation that has gripped Westeros.  It was made clear from the start that this show would be absolutely brutal and hold nothing back, and it hasn’t yet so it’s not bound to for this next and final season.

The only downside is that we have to wait until 2019 to see the final season, as the extended length of each episode no doubt requires a greater amount of time, money, and effort to film. That being said though I would imagine that the most loyal of GoT fans are going to be waiting with severe anticipation for the show to return just to see how it finally ties up so many loose ends. The idea of Daenerys and Jon being aunt and nephew has many people in an uproar already and their burgeoning romance is something that is definitely worthy of the Targaryen bloodline, to which Jon already belongs. If their pairing works out then they could become one of the most dominant forces to ever settle upon Westeros, though they would need more than they currently have to hold back the tide of undead that the Night King is currently bringing down from beyond the Wall.

People also want to know what’s to become of King’s Landing and Cersei, and if we’ll get the Clegane fight that we’ve been waiting for, and of course, what will become of Winterfell since it’s one of the most northern kingdoms.

The end is coming, and a lot of us just can’t wait.
