Contrary to popular believe NBC’s ‘Sound of Music Live’ brought in record ratings. It actually could be one of last year’s biggest television anomalies. Despite all the hate-watchers and snarky tweets Carrie Underwood and crew pulled in colossal numbers. In fact, ‘Sound of Music Live’ became the most-watched non-sports Thursday night broadcast since ‘American Idol’ in March of 2011. The show was also NBC’s most-watched non-sports program since the 2007 Golden Globes. If your shaking your head in disbelief you aren’t alone. Those commercials were insufferable!
Well, NBC is going back to the ‘Live Music Event’ well. (They’re eventually going to ruin something I love, I know it). NBC President Robert Greenblatt announced yesterday that ‘Peter Pan’ is going to be NBC’s next attempt at winning the live music audience. According to TV Online, Greenblatt announced the plans and said “Get ready for flying children”. God help us.
No date has been announced for the show nor has there been any hint about cast, but expect ‘Peter Pan – The Live Musical Event’ to take flight later this year.
