Photos - True Blood Season 3

HBO's fantasy series True Blood will begin its third season on June 13, and it's about time. I've never been a fan of vampires, but True Blood made those creatures truly interesting, and made them more characters and less stereotypes. And, of course, the series is on HBO, a network famous for its fantastic programming.

However, in addition to the vampires, True Blood will be introducing a totally new fantastical creature to the mix. While in the past we've seen fairies (yes, fairies) and maenads, werewolves will be joining the cast with season three, with one werewolf taking center stage in the love triangle between Sookie (Anna Paquin), Bill, and Eric. He'll be stretching it into what I've learned to call a "love rhombus."

Like in the third book of the Sookie Stackhouse novels, Club Dead, we'll be introduced to a werewolf named Alcide Herveaux (played by Joe Managaniello from Spider-Man). He and Sookie will grow quite close over the third season, even though he is helping her search for her kidnapped lover, Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer), who we saw being brutally abducted at the end of the second season finale, right after he had proposed marriage to Sookie.

HBO has released some promotional photos for the series' third season. I can't tell you what episodes they are from (because I don't know), but I do know that they aren't all from the same episode. James Frain, for instance, appears in this gallery, but is set to appear only in the second episode, "Beautifully Broken," (according to IMDb) probably meaning that these promo photos are from a handful of the first episodes of the season.

True Blood's third season will premiere on June 13 with the episode "Pack of Wolves" on HBO. Check out the promo photos below for a sneak peak at the first episodes of the season.
