Piers Morgan Has Officially Left CNN

Clinton Global Initiative Annual Meeting In New York

Piers Morgan has officially left CNN. The former talk show host announced the news himself via Twitter today.

Although his future at CNN had been a question for months, Morgan, whose talk show, Piers Morgan Live, aired its last new episode back in March after being being cancelled in February, had originally expressed interest in remaining with the news network.

“I’d like to do work –- interviews with big celebrities and powerful people — that is better suited to what I do well and fit with what [CNN president] Jeff [Zucker] is trying to do with the network,” Morgan told The New York Times earlier this year.

However, it turns out that Morgan’s interest in staying was not strong enough. According to his tweets, he reportedly turned down a two-year deal from Zucker to host dozens of interview specials.

Despite no longer working for CNN, Morgan, who concluded his final show by begging the United States to impose stricter gun laws, insists that he will continue to support new legislation for gun control and go after the NRA.
