“Stand Up for Heroes” is a veteran’s fundraiser that is orchestrated by Jon Stewart and his pals Trevor Noah and John Oliver. These are the featured headliners for the stand-up comedy event that is dedicated to raising awareness and some serious funding to assist our veterans who need the help of their fellow countrymen. The veterans of Comedy Central hosts, along with former correspondent John Oliver are all billed as top headliners for the event
On ongoing tribute
The “Stand Up for Heroes” event is not a new fundraiser. It has been ongoing for the past 10 years and the latest will be number 11. The Bob Woodruff Foundation is in collaboration with the New York Comedy Festival to bring the fundraiser to life. Their goal has been to bring musicians and comedians together for a night that is filled with entertainment and giving. The proceeds of this highly respected charity event are designated to help the nation’s wounded service members and their families.
A timely and productive effort
“Stand Up for Heroes” is becoming a regular thing, but it has special meaning this year. With the social and political unrest in the county, this is a way for us to all come together and unite for a special and much needed cause. The fundraiser has brought in over $40 million and is something that we can all get in on to help our servicemen who have given so much for our great country. This is a time when Americans have an opportunity to set aside any differences in philosophy or ideology and agree on one thing. We can all bind together in honoring our wounded veterans and thank them with the financial support that so many are currently in need of.
What to expect
In addition to Stewart, Oliver and Noah, you can expect to also see Libby Hill, Hasan Minhau, Conan O’Brien and John Mulaney. The focus will be on considering the men and women who have put their lives on the line, and who have come home with life changing injuries because of their service to everyone who lives in the country. There will be music and laughter interspersed throughout the rousing tributes that will be delivered by the performers.
Current designations of the funds
The festivities which will take place on November 7, 2017, will be held at the Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City. A portion of the funds raised will go to veteran’s organizations that have been impacted by the string of recent natural disasters. These organizations need help in shoring up their support services so they can continue to offer wounded veterans and their families the services that they require. This year has been tragic for many businesses in the areas devastated by hurricanes Harvey and Irma. Texas and Florida are the states that have suffered massive destruction and the loss of homes. Veterans who reside in these areas will especially need a helping hand in restoring their lives and coping with the need to rebuild homes or relocate their families.
