If we learned anything tonight, it was to never let Johnny Drama borrow your golf club. Tom Brady made that mistake in this week’s episode of Entourage, and Drama snapped it in two after a bad shot at a charity tournament.
However, other than that, nothing much happened in this week’s episode, save a little drama in the “E” love triangle. This week was surprisingly tame, and instead advanced the story very little. But that’s okay — it was still an absolute joy to watch, especially with guest appearances by Tom Brady, Mark Wahlberg, and Jeffrey Tambor.
The episode began with a romantic dinner between Eric and his squeeze Ashley. They’re not quite right for each other, and it shows with their banter over whether she should sleep over that night. Though they eventually decide she should, Eric gets a call from Sloan, who tells him that she’s sponsoring the charity golf tournament that the titular entourage will be participating in the next day. Eric’s nonchalant to Sloan, but unconvincingly lies to Ashley about what Sloan had to say. Really, Eric? “I don’t know?”
The rest of the boys are asking the same question the next day at the golf tournament, playfully berating Eric for his mistake. Sloan then shows up, and assigns the boys partners; Vince and Drama are paired with Tom Brady and Mark Wahlberg, and Eric and Turtle are paired with an agent who is interested in hiring Eric. Eric thinks that the agent is a legend, and is interested in working with him until he finds out that he was recommended by Sloan instead of Ari.
Ari, meanwhile, is paired with the delightfully obtuse Jeffrey Tambor, a client of Ari’s who has brought his two grandchildren along to watch the game. Ari allows Tambor to cheat in order to impress his grandchildren. Ari is in the dumps with Mrs. Ari because he kept a secret about Andrew’s affair; he’s been forced to sleep on the couch, and not even a new car helps to seal the rift. Ari takes his anger out on his caddy, Lloyd, by hitting golf balls into a pond and making him fetch them.
Drama, meanwhile, makes a bet about his golfing prowess, but is ridiculed by Wahlberg into upping his bet. He then proceeds to blow it, despite being given second chances by Wahlberg. In a fit of anger, Drama smashes one of Brady’s clubs, snapping it like a twig. Turtle, who has been mustering up the courage to tell Brady he “sucks balls,” instead finds Brady to be a nice guy, and accepts Brady’s invitation to bring Jamie Lynn to dinner at Brady’s house instead.
Eric confronts Sloan about her looking out for him, and she hurtfully replies that she cares about him, but can’t be friends with him because she cares too much. They angrily part ways, and Eric reveals that he turned down the job offer from the agent out of principle.
The golf tournament ends with Jeffrey getting mad at Ari because Ari won’t reveal that it was Andrew who had the affair, so Jeffrey “fires” Ari. “It never sticks,” Ari assures Jeffrey’s grandchildren, and refuses to confirm Jeffrey’s record-breaking golf score out of spite.
That night, at home, Eric tells Ashley he turned down a job, but won’t tell her why. She believes he made a mistake and should contact the agent again. She then gets up, bumping into Eric as she goes, prompting him to say “Sorry, Sloan.” She looks at him in confusion as he realizes that he just called her Sloan, ending the episode. You can certainly expect some fallout from that next week, in an episode entitled “Murphy’s Lie.” See you then!
