It’s been a long, long journey for the Veronica Mars movie to come to life using the power of Kickstarter and fan enthusiasm. Today it finally arrives not only in theaters, but on demand as well. It’s an interesting distribution concept, and one that is seldom tried. Then again, movies aren’t funded via Kickstarter very often, so it’s a rather nontraditional project altogether.
“On the eve of graduating law school, Veronica Mars has put Neptune and her amateur sleuthing days behind her. While interviewing at high-end New York law firms, Veronica Mars gets a call from her ex-boyfriend Logan who has been accused of murder. Veronica heads back to Neptune just to help Logan find an attorney, but when things don’t seem right with how Logan’s case is perceived and handled, Veronica finds herself being pulled back into a life she thought she had left behind.”
Chances are you will have to watch the movie online, as it’s only coming to something like 290 theaters. Kind of a rough distribution deal, but perhaps it will open up if the film performs well. There are exactly zero showings near me, so Amazon it is, it seems.
