Rita Moreno Speech Hightlights SAG Awards 2014 Winners

20th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards - Arrivals

While it was great to see Bryan Cranston and Breaking Bad continue their fond farewell this year, it was Rita Moreno who stole the show last night.  The 82 year old actress and singer took home the lifetime achievement award with an unforgettable speech.  It included an immediate expletive which you couldn’t help but smile at (it was bleeped by the censors), a beautiful Electric Company moment with Morgan Freeman, and her singing twice.  At 82, she’s still got some amazing pipes and it was just an emotional yet vibrant scene.

American Hustle took home what would be considered “best picture” and Matthew McConaughey was his usual crazy self after winning best actor award.  He went off on some rant about going to Neptune and was followed by up Kate Blanchett saying “If Matt can go to Neptune then I can get my 29 seconds in.”

Overall a fun evening but TBS needs to step up its game in the production.  There was something amateur about the camera work.  I felt it was like watching a home movie.  Still though, it was nice to see actors get appreciated by their peers.
