Robert Knepper to Play T-Bag Again in ‘Breakout Kings’

I’m going to make no apologies for my deep and abiding love of Prison Break. Even if, as my cousin rightly asked, “Exactly how many freaking prisons can they actually break out of?” Well, Nick, the answer is two, okay? And I don’t see you breaking out of any prisons, so be quiet.

Robert Knepper, who played child molester/murderer/all-around-bad-guy Theodore ‘T-Bag’ Bagwell in the FOX series will be reprising his role in 2011. Yes, you read that right. Prison Break creators Matt Olmstead and Nick Santora had inked a deal with A&E to develop a new prison show called Breakout Kings. They, like the rest of us, loved Knepper’s portrayal so much they’ve decided to bring him on to their new show (doesn’t it seem wrong how much this horrible character was liked?).

According to EW:

‘We’re done. We inked a deal. I’m gonna do it! T-Bag will live again!’Knepper told EW. Knepper told EW he’ll begin filming right after Thanksgiving. ‘I have to dust off the Southern accent. I have not seen a script. I am putting my faith in these guys’hands. The only thing I asked was that T-Bag doesn’t die. And they said, ‘˜Oh, no don’t worry. He won’t.’He came close many times but managed to cheat and escape death. He’s Teflon.’

Breakout Kings will be a drama series about a group of convicts who work with U.S. Marshalls to catch criminals on the run. I’m curious as to how T-Bag will fit into that? Who would be stupid enough to make a deal with him to let him out of prison?

Below is a trailer for the series, though it’s more to get you excited for the new show thank anything else, because it doesn’t show any real footage.

Despite Michael Scofield dying at the end of Prison Break (I am still seriously upset about that), I wonder whether any other Prison Break alumni will turn up in this new show.

I'm with you on that – I can't see anyone able to trust him. This is pretty cool though, hope it works out.

From what I recall at the end of Prison Break, T-Bag ended up back in prison (Fox River, if my guess is right). It will be interesting to see if there's continuity in that.

I'm definitely interested in seeing how this show plays out.

Im hoping hes not one of the task force. I hear its EX CONS helping the marshals, which means they arnt letting anybody out to help them. My hope is he re escapes Fox River and becomes the series main villain.

By the way, I love PB as much as you. That first paragraph sums it up perfectly for me. You could say I was/still am obsessed with the show….

So why is it that Im the only one who LIKED how the show ended? Yes, Im talking about Michael dying. He died for their sins. All of them. It was poetic and beautiful…..

But that said, hes not REALLY dead. See the Final Break? No body, no death….

I bet you hes in a Company bunker somewhere. He died for their sins….

    But then he arose! XD

I am so bloody stoked to hear this, Robert Knepper is an incredible actor & tho I only just started the first season of "Prison Break", I'm already rather fond of T-Bag (call me a sick puppy, T-Bag is SEXY!) … Only I was far more fond of Samuel and "Heroes", and it really really BITES that they just blew that show off without giving it a proper ending & giving Samuel at least another season… I'm sure I'll offend some PB fans here, not my intention, but "Heroes" was a way better show… PB is just like… I dunno… "eye candy", I guess… LOL! Glad to see that Robert will reprise his role as T-Bag tho, this is delightful news… He's also supposed to be playing Frank SINATRA in some new French film, dunno the details yet, but can't wait for that either! :D
