The Secret Circle is hoping to capitalize on the popularity of The Vampire Diaries. And why not? The original book series it was adapted from was also written by author L.J. Smith. The Secret Circle is also being produced by Vampire Diaries executive producer Kevin Williamson. The CW is also pairing it with The Vampire Diaries on the schedule, and the show will be airing on Thursday nights at 9:00 p.m. (view the 2011-2012 CW schedule).
Britt Robertson (formerly of Life Unexpected) stars as Cassie Blake. Cassie used to be a happy, normal teenager, until her mother Amelia dies in a fire. Depressed about her mother's death, Cassie moves in with her grandmother, Jane, in the small town of Chance Harbor, Washington. Her mother used to live there while growing up and Cassie is surprised to learn that some of the town residents seem to know more about Cassie than she knows about herself.
Cassie's classmates include the lovely Diana, her boyfriend Adam, brooding Nick, the bitchy Faye and her sidekick Melissa. Soon, strange things begin to happen and Cassie learns that all of her new friends are actually descended from witches. And so is Cassie.
The other witches ask Cassie to join and complete their Secret Circle. Cassie doesn't want to believe that she's a witch until Adam shows her how to unlock her powers. Later, Cassie finds a message from her mother in an old book of spells that tells her of her real destiny, one that is very dangerous.
Other stars of the series include: Thomas Dekker as Adam Conant, Gale Harold as Charles Meade, Phoebe Tonkin as Fay Chamberlain, Jessica Parker Kennedy as Melissa, Shelley Hennig as Diana Meade, Louis Hunter as Nick, Ashley Crow as Jane Blake and Natasha Henstridge as Dawn Chamberlain.

i really hate the vampire diaries. Mostly because of the horrible acting (except for Ian Somerhalder ) and the fact that i've had enough of sappy vampire romance stories. I'll watch this though, mainly because Thomas Dekker is in it and i loved him in the sarah connor chronicles
