Shaq is out to prove he can be the best in any sports arena, lucky for him television ratings aren't considered a sport. Or, are they? Shaq Vs. did as well last night as FOX's 'regular folk' dating show "More To Love," which is basically about a bunch of plus-sizers looking for love. What a strange statement. A society that is supposedly infatuated with the sports-image pacing with a show about fat folk. Maybe there is hope for us after-all. Whoops! Maybe not, Big Brother was number one.
I flipped back and forth between Shaq and Big Brother for a while, until the constant flow of Shaq's braggadocchio made me want to stick a finger down my throat. In a perfect world, I suppose Shaq's legion of fans would tune in to watch him trounce the competition. I kept hoping for his competitor of the evening, the Steeler's Ben Roethlisberger, to shove a pigskin down his throat. I'm told Roethlisberger won, thank god, but I doubt that tamed Shaq's enormous ego at all.
"Shaq VS" follows Shaq and his athletic adversary throughout the rigorous training process and the pre-game hype, including press conferences and interviews, all leading up to the final competition. To level the playing field, Shaq will negotiate a handicap with his opponent and train with a coach for one week leading up to each challenge.
Love him or hate him there is no one like Shaq. I work on “Shaq Vs” and have enjoyed every chance I get to be around him…he’s just so darn funny. The man is comedy in a 7 ft frame.
His next show on Tuesday night features him on the beach playing against Olympic gold medalists Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh. He’ll also step onto the court with Serena Williams to help her train for the US Open. You have to see the big surprise at the end of the episode. Let’s just say we find a new color that Shaq looks good in.
Be sure to catch the show when Albert Pujols, Michael Phelps and Oscar De La Hoya step up to face the challenge of his Shaqness.
Tune in Tuesday night at 8pm ET & PT on ABC. Can you dig it?
