Six Cartoons That Reference the Work of the Legendary Stanley Kubrick

For a very long time The Simpsons was the king of pop culture references among cartoons.   It’s still way up there and some would argue it’s still the best.   But as the years have gone by prime time cartoons have become a treasure trove of references to movies, TV shows. music and events of our past and present.   Other cartoon shows that I think do a fantastic job of referencing pop culture are Family Guy, Futurama (when it was around), Rick and Morty is incredible, South Park, and even shows like Spongebob Squarepants are way better than you think at it.

But there are some references that you just “don’t do” unless you really know the subject matter well.  Tackling a director like Stanley Kubrick is a slippery slope when it comes to cartoons but I came across this video today that speaks of six cartoons that did it extremely well.    Of course The Simpsons is in here but there a few that might surprise you.
