CSI Spoiler: Ted Danson To Join Series For A Regular Role

Winner of multiple Emmys and Golden Globes, Ted Danson is set to join the cast of CBS's CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, as a series regular. His character will appear for the first time in the upcoming 12th season premiere on September 21.

Danson joins the cast two months after Lawrence Fishburne decided to leave the show after two and a half seasons to focus on his feature film career. Widely known for his work on Cheers, Danson will play the CSI Supervisor leading the team. His character takes over the Las Vegas grave shift after running the crime lab in Portland.

"He comes to the team as they are still grappling with the professional and personal fallout from last season's take-down of serial killer, Nate Haskell." a source from CBS said.

The creative team of CSI is excited about the new character.

"You can create a new character on the page, but until the perfect actor comes along and breathes life into it, it's just words," states executive producer Carol Mendelsohn. "We're very excited Ted Danson came along."

"From the moment we all started talking about the role, it was clear he couldn't be more perfect," said Executive Producer Don McGill. "Intelligence, wit, warmth, depth of character and emotion, he brings it all. And now he'll have to bring latex gloves, too."

For those of you who are worried about Danson leaving Bored to Death, you can relax. He will continue as a series regular on the critically acclaimed HBO show.
