The Biggest Loser kicked off its new season last night, and shared an hour of its premiere with the overlapping Big Brother finale.  For that reason I wanted to give a quick recap (a mini-cap) of some of the high points for me.  At the bottom of this article you'll find a handy dandy two-minute video replay put together by NBC just to make sure you are all caught up and ready for next week.

The great thing about The Biggest Loser is that starting out we often feel some level of compassion for all of the contestants.  Last night was no different, though there are obvious ones who stand out with their heart-wrenching stories.  This season the tear-jerker came from Abby, who lost her husband and two children in a car accident.  I like to think of myself as a manly man, but you get me thinking about something like that happening to my kids, and I'm like a crying ball of goo. Luckily Danny's story about how he was a rock star in high school and misses that lifestyle got me laughing a little bit, which is exactly why this is one of the few great reality shows out there.  A few other heart-wrenching stories included Allen the overweight fireman and Shay, who is the daughter of a heroin addict.

They've also brought back Daniel this season, who was on last season's show and weighed in as the heaviest contestant ever on The Biggest Loser.  Daniel is someone that you just can't help but love and seeing his positive energy on the show again was great.  I can't wait to see what he does and how far he goes.  If you need to know what kind of person he is, you only have to see that he picks, as his partner, Shay, who ends up beating his weight from last season and is now the heaviest ever contestant on the show.

There was plenty of other drama, including a hospital trip for Tracey after their first run on the beach.
