Thursday Ratings: Private Practice Rises, But CBS Still Wins

A special post-rape episode of Private Practice caused a large surge in the show’s rating – increasing by 44% and giving it its best night of the season. In addition, Grey’s Anatomy’s ratings also rose by 10%. But that wasn’t enough to beat CBS, which was the clear winner for the night. Fox’s return to regular programming after the World Series landed it in third place.

8:00 p.m. ratings:

CBS: “The Big Bang Theory” (13.9 million, 8.3/14)/”$#*! My Dad Says” (10.9 million, 6.7/11) – both up 10%
FOX: “Bones” (9.1 million, 5.5/9)
NBC: “Community” (4.6 million, 2.9/5) – down 21%/”30 Rock” (5.3 million, 3.3/5) – down 9%
ABC: “Grey’s Anatomy” rerun (4.4 million, 3.0/5)
The CW: “The Vampire Diaries” (3.6 million, 2.0/3) – down 10%

9:00 p.m. ratings:

CBS: “CSI” (13.9 million, 8.5/13)
ABC: “Grey’s Anatomy” (11.7 million, 7.6/12) – up 10%
NBC: “The Office” (7.6 million, 4.5/7)/”Outsourced” (5.8 million, 3.5/6)
FOX: “Fringe” (5 million, 3.0/5) – down 10%
The CW: “Nikita” (2.5 million, 1.5/2) – down 10%

10:00 p.m. ratings:

CBS: “The Mentalist” (14.3 million, 8.9/15) – down 9%
ABC: “Private Practice” (10.2 million, 7.1/12) – up 44%
NBC: “The Apprentice” (4 million, 2.7/5
