True Blood Spoilers! August Episodes Revealed

HBO has released some extremely interesting episode breakdowns for August’s True Blood episodes. These are so telling they need to be inspected one at a time. First:

Episode #57: ‘Everybody Wants to Rule the World’
Debut: SUNDAY, AUG. 5 (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET/PT)
Other HBO playdates: Aug. 5 (11:00 p.m.), 7 (midnight), 8 (10:00 p.m.), 9 (11:00 p.m.) and 11 (10:30 p.m.)
HBO2 playdates: Aug. 6 (9:00 p.m.), 7 (10:00 p.m.), 9 (8:00 p.m.), 10 (11:00 p.m.), 12 (5:00 p.m.) and 24 (9:00 p.m.)

As the Authority proceeds with Lilith’s plan, Eric (Alexander Skarsgård) plots his escape. Gran (Lois Smith) directs Sookie (Anna Paquin) to a clue to her parents’murderer. Andy (Chris Bauer) and Jason (Ryan Kwanten) search for leads to the identities of the people behind the shifter killings. Alcide (Joe Manganiello) recalls his pack induction; Arlene (Carrie Preston) gets caught in Terry (Todd Lowe) and Patrick’s (Scott Foley) crossfire; Steve (Michael McMillian) gets a new pet.

Written by Raelle Tucker; directed by Dan Attias.

So first of all, Gran? Way too cool. This season of True Blood has had all kinds of kick ass cameos from previous characters. The real meet here though is in Eric plotting his escape; by omission, we can assume Bill is not part of this escape plan since it is identified as Eric’s alone. Since Terry and Patrick are eluding a ‘fire’ monster, you can’t help but wonder if HBO’s copywriters are getting cute here. Are they really firing at each other, or is there simply fire between them. Not that either situation would be a good one, but if this is coyly referencing the demon on their backs, Arlene could be in very mortal danger.

Episode #58: ‘Gone, Gone, Gone’
Debut: SUNDAY, AUG. 12 (9:00-10:00 p.m.)
Other HBO playdates: Aug. 12 (11:00 p.m.), 14 (midnight), 15 (10:00 p.m.), 16 (11:00 p.m.) and 18 (11:00 p.m.)
HBO2 playdates: Aug. 13 (9:00 p.m.), 14 (10:00 p.m.), 16 (8:00 p.m.), 17 (11:00 p.m.), 19 (4:00 p.m.) and 24 (10:00 p.m.)

With vampire-on-human attacks increasing, the Authority attempts to woo public favor. Meanwhile, Nora (Lucy Griffiths) tries to convert Eric to Lilith’s gospel. Jason finds a mysterious scroll; Elijah (Keram Malicki-Sanchez), the new vampire sheriff of Area 5, pushes Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten) and Tara (Rutina Wesley) to obey a new mandate; Sam (Sam Trammell) and Luna (Janina Gavankar) search for Emma (Chloe Noelle); Russell (Denis O’Hare) seeks a higher calling.

I’m sensing some more playfulness from whoever puts these things together at HBO. Higher calling? Really? Since Lilith is supposed to be as close to a living, or un-dead, deity that the Vampires have we can assume that from Russell’s perspective at least she has become a fallen idol by this point. Or, Russell climbs the Empire State building. Also why does the Authority wooing public favor seem so out of tune with a Vampire/Human war. Have the power elite fragmented once again by this point? Looks like August will be an exciting month for True Blood fans.
