True Blood's Anna Paquin Talks Love Scenes and Fan Interaction

After last night's stellar season 4 premiere of True Blood (for our review head here) we have another treat; looking a far cry from her character Sookie Stackhouse, Anna Paquin channels her inner 1950s starlet for the new issue of V Magazine (the fashion publication with no ties to the vampire blood industry). Inside the issue, alongside the stunning pictorial Paquin discusses her career so far, what it is like to have such intimate scenes with her real life husband (True Blood's Stephen Moyer), and how she feels about the fans of True Blood who are particularly 'in' to her husband.

As any viewer of True Blood knows (and even those who don't) the love scenes can be rather hot and heavy, with little being left to the imagination and with a lot of flesh on show. One aspect of these scenes that is often spoken about in interviews is how these interactions must be odd or different between Paquin and her real life husband Stephen Moyer (who plays Bill Compton). Paquin's response to this in V Magazine is that :

"Maybe it should be weird, simulating sex with your husband in front of people. But it’s really not. When it’s a love scene with someone you actually love it’s not ‘Can I touch him here, can I touch him there’ You know what your boundaries are, or aren’t I suppose."

Paquin has always been quite candid about the subject of sex in True Blood's and it is a topic that she does not shy away from, so it is not surprising that she does not find doing these scenes with Moyer all that odd.

In this interview Paquin also discusses the reaction to her appearance in the last year's 'Give A Damn' PSA where she revealed that she was bisexual:

"Frankly no one had ever asked me before. My sexuality is something I'm completely comfortable with and open about. There is a lot of prejudice against us but the more people talk about it, the less of a deal it will be. Who people choose to sleep with - or spend their lives with - shouldn't matter, not that anyone particularly cares who I’m attracted to."

I think she is being a tad on the modest/naïve side if she thinks that this news didn't interest anyone; gossip blogs and entertainment news certainly ran with the story and it gave the PSA a larger audience than it would have got if there hadn't been this surprise reveal (in fact there were so many visitors that the website crashed under the demand).

Anna Paquin is clearly someone who isn't bothered by the more intimate aspects of True Blood but what about those Bill Compton fans who are really interested in her husband? Well it turns out that she kind of enjoys the attention that Moyer is on the receiving end of:

"There is probably something wrong with me, but I find it amusing to watch these men and women fawn all over him. It’s not like anyone is really trying to do anything inappropriate. They just him to hug them… or bite them.”

This echoes what Stephen Moyer has told the new issue of Men's Health (the True Blood cast really is dominating newsstands), who cheekily told the magazine that:

"I get to sign boobs a lot. I get to bite boobs, occasionally, when I’m allowed. If my missus is there and she approves of the person I get to bite boobs … and necks."

So if you see the pair and that is your inclination then you might get to have your wishes indulged.
